The Global Studio was interviewed by the Seattle Times after we won the Architecture For Humanity award to design the SIDAREC project in Kenya. The article discusses our backgrounds, influences, and goals for the future.

Geoff was interviewed for an article on non-traditional architectural education. He shared what we are doing with the Global Studio to give architecture students a chance to do design build in a different cultural setting.
The Global Studio is featured on the cover building a composting latrine in EL Eden Nicaragua. We were selected as one of 4 firms in Seattle whose work was included in the Designers Making Change Exhibit in the winter of 2009.
Soon after placing the Orchard house on the market, we received a call from our local news station requesting a interview and tour of the house. The resulting news spot was shown prime time… “Its brown on the outside and green on the inside!!!”. Yikes.
Due to some garbled factoids and creative editing, this is not the most correct piece of reporting, but hey- it is our first TV spot- we really can’t complain.
When we learned that we had been selected as one the top 10 projects for the Architecture for Humanity award for the SIDAREC design, we were approached by PBS Frontline to ask if we would provide an interview about our work with AFH for a documentary they were putting together about the organization. The reporter “happened” to be with us when we found out that we had won the whole competition, and spend quite a bit of time filming us and recording our reactions. Our appearance in the final video is pretty short, but look for Geoff talking about how much fun it is to do this kind of work.
Our first bit of real press. We were interviewed by the DJC about the Orchard House, which was still in the design stages at the time. The article focuses on the planned green design features of the development, and our goals for learning and growing as a company through it.
